Before We Try,Try Again,"Change Something"

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein

I teach my grandchildren all the time..."If at first you don't succeed.....(what do we do?) We try try again, Grammie. But before we try, try again, let's look at what's not working, then we try try again.

Today, I'm taking my own advice. Since I've started my Etsy shop, I've not had much success. But for me, that just makes me more determined! So, today I took a long look at my entire shop and low and behold I found a few things that gave me that " No wonder no one's seeing my listings" epiphany! As if someone else did it, wink, wink. I saw things and said "Why did I do that?" Funny how things look fine and the best you can do. Then a little while later, the wrong things just pop out at you.

My point is, one thing I've learned lately, trying again is fine, but trying again without checking to see what's wrong first, is insanity. All you get out that is hamster wheel excercise.  But if we study, look, learn and keep an open mind, then make at least one little change, before trying again, chances are something will happen. Good or bad, but at least we get off the hamster wheel.

I think it's the old fear of failure. But now I look at it this way, what's the worst that can happen?.... What I tried didn't work. But....now, after studying all the things I can change, every new thing I change a real chance of working.

My shop is going under more reconstruction soon, so stay tuned!

Bet You Didn't Know

Hello Blog Friends,

One thing about us crafter's I've noticed? We do evolve and grow into other crafty avenues. I think it's because we are so drawn to everything crafty. Even if one particular craft isn't our first love. My original first love, of course being scrapbooking. From that I caught the bug for making all the individual embellies for the pages. After that, came using them for cardmaking.

It's not that we can't decide. It's that we want to do it all.
And why not? After all one of the driving forces that keep us all in our craft rooms is creativity and exploring, trying new things and practicing them, right? So, in essence we are always adding new things, not replacing our old crafting loves.

But...now finally... on to what 'you probably didn't know'. I don't really wear much jewelry at all! Never been much for  "bling"  for myself. Other than my wedding ring, which I never take off, even for doing dishes. I only wear one of the pieces from time to time that my husband has given me over the years. I actually never wear anything like I hope to make. It's not that I don't like jewelry of course. I think it's because I don't really like to shop for clothes, so the idea of buying shoes to match my outfit is daunting enough, but if I had to keep pieces of jewelry that match all that as well, I think I would shop even less for the clothes I actually need and for any occasion!

So why did I dive into the big overflowing pool of jewelry makers, you ask? I just adore seeing other people all dressed up in it. Trying to figure out their personalities through the jewelry they chose for a particular occasion or outfit.

No what drew me in was that I simply love different things people are wearing now. No rules! And sometimes, adorable surprises! But know what I love the most? The way every piece is so uniquely made.  Unlike dresses and shoes, I don't think I've ever seen someone wear a piece of jewelry exactly like any other I've seen. Something is always different about it.

So, that's what I've been working on lately. My new craft child has become jewelry making.
Right now I'm dabbling in these lovely glass pendants. I'll admit they are pretty easy to make and give me that instant gratification we all love. And although these are similar to each other in form, as you can see, they too are each unique in some way.

Stay tuned for more surprising, fun and beautiful images under glass coming soon.
Also available soon will be images and photos set in beautiful Antique Copper, Antique Brass, and Bright Silver.

These and all of my paper pieced crafts are available www.grammiekims.etsy.com

And to make room for all this lovely jewelry and other fun things for the up coming fall and holiday time, look for my very first BIG SALE in my shop, coming next week.

Until next time, keep exploring what you love to craft, no matter what form it takes ;)

-Blessings to all,
Grammie Kim

So Excited about My New Jewelry Line on Etsy

HELLO AGAIN!
I'm soo happy to be back in the world of creating again.
My mother has been very immobile with her broken bones and I've been quite busy taking care of her and my brother.
He is in the transplant program at a leading hospital for successful transplants. So, I've been taking care of those affairs for a while now.
But, things are looking up and getting under control now. And it's time to get back to what I love to do here at home. CRAFTING!!  :)
As you can see, I'm trying something I've been dying to dabble into.
Jewerly making. I just love all the wonderful new findings and components, so easy to get now. These are just a few pieces I've made.
Come check out my shop at www.grammiekimscorner.etsy.com for a look at all the new pendants I have designed and made by hand.
In the meantime, it's back to work!

Blessings to all,
-Kim
